Google April Fools Prank
Task at Google
When Eran worked on Google Cloud in Israel, the brand was the third entrant in the market. The challenge for the local team wasn’t more features—it was cultural memorability.
What the team did (at Google)
Eran led the concept and rollout of “The Hummus API,” an April Fools campaign created and launched by the Google Cloud Israel team. The idea wrapped deep tech in a beloved local trope and was introduced with a cinematic launch video so real people actually wanted to taste it.
The Result
Hundreds of thousands of YouTube views, coverage across mainstream and top-tier tech outlets, and a shift in how developers talked about “cloud”, from generic utility to culturally fluent conversation.
Founder POV (from pre-PITCHA work)
When you give a brand gravity, it doesn’t just get noticed — it opens doors.
“A brand is no longer what we tell the consumer it is — it’s what consumers tell each other it is.” — Scott Cook
